We are VERY EXCITED to announce

changes to the WDU 55K!

The race will BEGIN at the Wakely Dam

and END in Piseco.

We have contracted with the Irondequoit Inn for our 2012 venue! Once you leave the trail head in Piseco, it's just a short jog down Haskell Road through the Inn's private trail and to the finish line that will be on their BEACH!

Our contract with the Irondequoit Inn will allow all runners and their families use of the Inn's facilities from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. These include: swimming beach, private island, trout stream, hiking trails, and tennis court. The Inn offers canoe/kayak rental however, feel free to bring your own and use their launch. You can also choose to just sit and relax on the beautiful wrap around porch with breathtaking views of the lake.

We will have another carb loading pre-race pasta Friday night along with a bonfire on the beach. Since we will have access to electricity, we know we can provide coffee on race morning. As in the past, transportation to the start line will be provided. The post-race celebration will take place directly on the beach adjacent to the finish line!

The Irondequoit Inn has rooms in the lodge that include a healthy, organic breakfast. However, if you prefer to get even closer to nature, you can choose a campsite near the beach or lake shore. Their campsites include hot showers and flush toilets.

We have placed a hold on all rooms in the lodge and all campsites for the use of our WDU participants. It will be first come, first serve to reserve your room. You can reserve your room by calling Pamela at: 518-548-5500, be sure to mention the WDU!

Alternative accommodations include two state camp grounds, Poplar Point and Little Sand Point. These are just few miles down the road from the Inn. For those of you that choose these accommodations, you will still have full access to all the amenties at the Inn. Reservations can be made at : RESERVE AMERICA

Further details will follow...

Please refer back here as we make changes to the website regarding the new logistics.

We have received many emails and FB messages about next years date. We would prefer to wait for the permit approval from the NYS DEC but understand that many of you are planning your 2012 race schedule. The "tentative" date is 7/14.  Once this is approved we will make an announcement. We will provide a registration date and allow ample time.
Thank you for your patience.

RESULTS ARE POSTED!

Thank you to everyone that participated in the 11th year of the Wakely Dam Ultra, our first year as Race Directors.  It was such a pleasure meeting each and every one of you and sharing your successful race.

Who said all good things must come to an end??

After a 10 year "run" under the directorship of RDJim we have been given the privilege of taking over the Wakely Dam Ultra.· It is a huge responsibility to be sure, but anyone that has participated in this incredible event would agree that every step had to be taken to make sure it stayed alive and well.· Jim did a fantastic job growing this race from the ground up and we simply plan on maintaining the one-of-a-kind experience that this race has provided in the past.· As we embark on this journey any ideas, suggestions or input that you may have is always welcome.·

We look forward to seeing you all out on the trail.

The Wakely Dam Ultra is a 55K (34 miles) ultra marathon through the Adirondack Park wilderness of New York State.· It takes place along a remote section of the Northville Placid Trail between Piseco Lake and the Wakely Dam.· The race is totally self supported, all runners will provide their own aid.· It is a technical trail race with 7,381 feet of total elevation change.· There are no cross roads, when you enter at Piseco Lake there are only two ways out;· emerge at the Wakely Dam or return from whence you came.· Adding your name to the list of nearly 300 runners who have conquered Wakely will take a fair amount of fitness, planning, toughness, and maybe even a little bit of luck.
